Suquamish helps with culvert removal project

Dec 13th, 2007 • Category: NWIFC Blog |

The Kitsap Sun printed a story about Kitsap County purchasing waterfront property that includes Chico Creek, which is home to the county’s largest salmon run. The county plans to remove a fish-blocking culvert within the property. Funding sources for the project included The Suquamish Tribe.

From the article:

“A “naming ceremony” for three acres of waterfront property on Chico Bay went ahead as scheduled Wednesday, while the property acquisition gained new significance following Monday’s storm.

The property, near the end of Kittyhawk Drive at the mouth of Chico Creek, was acquired by Kitsap County through a series of grants. Ultimately, the property will allow the county to remove an undersized culvert on Kittyhawk Drive, allowing the stream to flow freely.”
