Segment Confinement
Defined as the ratio of the width of the floodplain to the channel's bankfull width, channel confinement values provide information about the ability of the channel to migrate within the floodplain under the present hydrologic regime. The confinement types used in SSHIAP are:
Unconfined - Floodplain width is equal to or greater than 4 channel widths.
Moderately Confined - Floodplain width is equal to or greater than 2 and less than 4 channel widths.
Confined - Floodplain width less than 2 channel widths.
